About Us, Why We Do What We Do

Becka and Daniel Perrine, an Army veteran, happily married in 2013 and settled down in La Pine, Oregon. Becka worked as a Postmaster at the United States Postal Service and Daniel, a specialist at an equipment financing company.

Becka had a leg amputated in 2015, but she never let it get her down. She served as an advocate for others going through future amputations. Becka has 2 biological children, but also fostered many children individually and adopted her son, Colton at less than one year old. She loved cooking delicious meals for her family, which they still rave about to this day.

Her snarkiness and infectious, boisterous laugh was a favorite by many that knew her. You could always rely on Daniel and Becka's quick wit and cheeky banter with one another to brighten your day. It truly was never ending entertainment.

Daniel and Becka would fill their time riding their side by sides around their property, trips to the coast, camping, enjoying time with family and friends, and going out to The Cowboy Dinner Tree. They both have a love for cars. On December, 11th, 2024 Becka had just purchased her dream car; a blacked out lifted Jeep with subs that would blow you away. She enjoyed that Jeep just over two weeks. Daniel owns a 2017 Ford Mustang GT that Becka dearly loved. That Mustang is now dedicated to his late wife.

They joined their local Mustang club, Central Oregon Mustangs where friends became family and the inspiration of Mustangs Against Impaired Driving was later ignited.

Becka never made it home on December 27th due to another driver that crossed the line. The cause is currently under investigation. Within minutes of her leaving work, a chaotic scene ensued. The following events are what occurred according to Daniel

At 4:52 PM, Becka sent me a text that she was leaving work and on her way home. I was at the grocery store to get us dinner so I could have a nice meal cooked for her when she got home. While I was on my way home at the stop light at Huntington and Burgess in La Pine, I received a message from one of Becka’s coworkers, “call me, 911, Becka.” Becka just told me she was leaving work so I thought maybe she fell at work on her way out or something.
I called the coworker and she asked me to hold so she could get her boss on the phone. At this point, I had no idea what was going on. Her boss joined the call and told me Becka had been in a bad wreck but nobody knew any more than that.
I immediately started heading out there. At the same time, it started snowing really heavily and the roads were getting bad. Another of Becka’s coworkers had seen the aftermath of the collision and had talked to the person (a Good Samaritan) that was two vehicles behind her. That person had confirmed that my wife was not ok but again, this all we knew.
I called Vanessa’s work many many times and finally was able to get through. I told the person that answered the phone, “ I need to talk to Vanessa immediately. Vanessa got on the phone and I said, “I’m coming to get you. Mom has been in a bad accident.” I went to Sunriver, roads are really getting bad at this point from the snow. Common sense kicked in along the way and I knew there was no way I would be able to get to my wife with all the emergency vehicles and highway shut down. Becka’s boss kept me updated about that on my way to pick up Vanessa.
I called 911 four different times trying to reach someone that could tell me where my wife was and what her condition was. I didn’t know who else to call and I was panicking. Vanessa and I decided to go to the Sunriver police department to see if we could find out anything and of course, they were closed. By this time, it’s around 7:00 PM. We decided to wait in the parking lot of the police department, hoping that someone would call us like the dispatcher said, or someone would come out of the police department.
In the meantime I called both Bend and Redmond hospitals to see if my wife was there. They didn’t know anything. We were looking on Facebook and learned the accident was a fatality and a guy in a truck was screaming. This made my heart sink as I put the pieces together in my head. Then I thought, it’s Facebook . You can't believe everything and there is no way that would happen to my wife and us. Vanessa and I decided to run to the gas station and get a drink. As soon as we pulled out of the sunriver police parking lot, the phone rang. It was 911 asking if we were still at the police department. I let them know we had just left and they asked me to go back and an officer would come out and talk to us.
We went back and the officer came out to the truck and got us. He took us inside where there was another officer on standby and the news was delivered that my wife did not survive the collision. I went into immediate shock. I looked at my daughter and the look on her face is not one I ever want to see again.
Ironically, the officer that told us, had worked for another department and he was tasked with delivering this type of news to families. He left that department as he did not like that and yet here he was telling us and his department was not even involved.
There is a lot more I can add after all this happened but this is a good stopping point.
I still miss my wife dearly and tears run down my face most days. I will always love her and always miss her. I am so thankful for my kids throughout this ordeal and I feel so bad for them. They lost their mom and that cannot be easy.

Our Mission

Becka's life was MAID for something more. Mustangs Against Impaired Driving may have been born out of unnecessary, immeasurable pain; but we look forward to a brighter future. We do this by honoring those who are impacted by these horrible circumstances and bring awareness to these senseless deaths due to poor choices of consuming drugs or alcohol then getting behind the wheel.

Do not be the reason someone doesn't make it home for dinner, a child is without a parent, a spouse has to live the rest of their life without their other half.

Their world and yours will forever be affected by the choices you made by getting behind the wheel while impaired. Vehicles are not MAID for driving if you are under the influence of altering substances.
